M-2240 is a non-flame sustaining, phosphoric acid based cleaner and brightener for use on aluminum surfaces.
M-2240 is in accordance to U.S. Military Specification MIL-C-5410B TYPE II, clear liquid used full strength or diluted with mineral spirits and water, as required, for the maintenance of transport aircraft.
Usage
Preparation of airplane: Whenever practicable, cleaner and brightener application compound application should be made outdoors in a shaded area or well-ventilated room.
Application
M-2240 is a clear liquid used full strength or diluted with mineral spirits and water, as required, for the maintenance of transport aircraft.
For heavily oxidized surfaces: Dilute the product with an equal volume of mineral spirits before using.
For lightly oxidized surfaces: Dilute the product with water as required.
M-2240 should be applied with a soft brush, rag, sponge or by spray. When applicable the application should begin on the bottom surfaces. It should be applied with a circular motion, brushing enough to loosen the surface film. The compound should be allowed to remain on the surface a maximum of 15 minutes then rinse with a stream of water.
