KEM-251 is a phenolic liquid product primarily intended for heavy duty cleaning of unpainted surfaces.

Meets the requirements of P-C-444 B Type II (phenolic).

Application

KEM-251 is applied for removing oil, grease, mud, smoke and other foreign matters existing from various surfaces.

It is safe on Aluminum, Steel, Magnesium, Titanium and does not affect the anodize coatings.

The product will attack rubber, plastics, decalcomanias, painted surfaces, etc. so it should be used with extreme caution as the compound will soften these if allowed to remain on the surfaces too long.

Usage

KEM-251 is primarily intended for heavy duty cleaning on unpainted surfaces.  KEM-251 is normally used neat or diluted with mineral spirits solutions in concentrations ranging between 1 part compound and 9 parts mineral spirits to 1 part compound and 4 parts mineral spirits by volume depending on the degree of soil.

KEM-251 may be applied by rag, spray or immersion; allow the solution to remain on surfaces until softening of the soils and then rinse with plenty of water under pressure.

When it is mixed with 1,1,1-Trichloroethane or other chlorinated solvents it can be used for ultrasonic cleaning on heavily soiled general aircraft bearings.  It should be used with extreme caution on rubber, plastics, decalcomanias, painted surfaces, etc., as the compound will soften these if allowed to remain on the surface too long.  The compound will have an irritating action in contact with the skin and eyes; therefore, rubber gloves and goggles are recommended to be worn by personnel using this compound.
